Graduate Volunteer Programme

GVP is a volunteering program for graduates that is coordinated by the Christian Council of Tanzania. It offers an opportunity for the graduates of different fields to work with CCT or its Members in community development. Purposely graduates get a room for internship for their professions and the hosts get man power..

Health & HIV / AIDS

This programme will aim to reduce the risk and vulnerability to diseases through reduced HIV prevalence, improved treatment of opportunistic infection, reduced prevalence of malaria and waterborne diseases and improved access to safe water and sanitation. The specific role of this programme is to improve CCT members’ competence in facilitating HIV, malaria and waterborne disease prevention, impact mitigation and care and support for infected and affected people..

Women Development, Children & Gender

The goal of this programme is to promote the empowerment of women and children by mainstreaming gender issues in the policies of CCT members to achieve greater gender equity. The purpose is to increase the number of women in leadership positions, i.e. those with decision-making power, and impact political and socioeconomic development that translates into better quality of life for the vulnerable members of the community.

Climate Change, Environment, & Food Security

The goal of the programme is to improve the participation of CCT members and communities in agricultural production and environmental management to ensure adequate production of and access to sufficient food. The specific role of CCT in this regard is to create and increase its Members’ competencies in pursuing sustainable practices in food production and management of climate change.

Media & Communications

The goal of this programme is to fully exploit available media and communication strategies to promote the work of CCT and her members, share information, network and facilitate collective advocacy, as well as effectively enhance the visibility of the Council to its stakeholders in general and the broader public in particular.

Peace, Socio-Economic Justice and Good Governance

The goal of this programme is to enhance and sustain peaceful co-existence, respect for human rights and equitable participation in managing and sharing social, economic, political and cultural life among the communities. The purpose will be the enhancement of the capacity of CCT members and communities to engage in fostering peaceful co-existence and respect of human rights at all levels. This will be achieved through four outputs: increased capacity of communities to understand current issues related to civic affairs, public policies, political parties’ manifestoes, and human rights; and enhanced collaboration and networking among CCT members, other FBOs and the wider CSOs community.
