HIV AIDS Programme Office
Land Purchase - Land for Life Project
14 Jan 2011 - Under the hot Tanzanian sun, staff of the Christian Council of Tanzanian met with landowner Mr. Nyau to sign a purchase agreement in the Village of Nzuguni. Also present for the occasion was the Nzuguni Village Administrator. Signing for the CCT was the Programme Officer of the CCT's HIV AIDS National Desk, Justin Nyamoga.
The goal of the Land for Life Project is to provide safe and secure
housing for AIDS-Affected families and families of Orphans & Vulnerable
Children (OVC); along with the tools to achieve financial security.
CCT is embarking on this ambitious project to build very low cost,
durable, expandable homes for AIDs-Affected families and families with
Orphans & Vulnerable Children. Virtually all these families are headed
by a mother or grandmother who is taking care of one or more children.
The plan of the CCT is to build 100 of these homes per year beginning in
2011. The project will include training the beneficiary families in
intensive gardening; care, feeding and marketing of chickens / goats;
and finance & entrepreneurship. It is estimated that the annual cost of
the project will be $300,000 per year.
